Pumpkin Carving

Thank you to all of the parents that helped us investigate pumpkins this week. We had a great time diving into the slimy, gooey, mess (some more than others). We spent the week discussing the pumpkin seeds, shoots, leaves, flowers, and growing pumpkins. The Pumpkin Parable, along with other books about pumpkins were great additions to our study.

A Few Updates!

Can you find the letters hidden in the bottle?

During this work station the students match the name to the face. Most are beginning to read the names correctly.

Birthday King

Birthday Queen

Star Student time allows your child to share items special to them.

This was an extra special treat brought by a star student's mom. It was enjoyed while listening to The Grouchy Ladybug. Thank you for the yummy snack and great book!

The Leap Pads have been a hit during work stations.

We have work stations each morning from 9:00-9:30. The students walk in from car line and find their work station.

This is the letter stamping work station.

We also have an alphabet page work station that will eventually be a book for each student to bring home and share with family.

We have started our Scientist of the Week experiments. The students are enjoying the opportunity to demonstrate an experiment for their friends. I am learning a few things, too! Each child will have the chance to be a scientist. We usually do this on Thursday or Friday. I will send home the scientist bag when it is your child's turn.

Star Student is celebrated on Fridays at 12:20. It is fun listening to each child tell a little about him/herself. This gives each child a chance to shine!

Everyone looks forward to playground time. Don't fret if your child is not in this picture. These students just happened to be playing chase together while others were enjoying the tire swing. Everyone was present!

Music with Mrs. Beth is on Fridays. We have so much fun learning new songs and exploring with instruments!

Thank you for checking the blog. I will try to be more current with the posts. This is an awesome group of parents and children. I am blessed to be the teacher for this class. Thank you for praying for our students and school each day. My goal is for them to learn more about God and His love first. My second goal is for them to grow academically and socially. I believe we are meeting these goals as we progress through the school year.

Starting our Year with the Gingerbread Man

We began our week by reading The Gingerbread Man. We searched the building for the run away Gingerbread Man. We could not find him anywhere! When we got back in the classroom we discovered he had left us gingerbread man cookies! We read different versions of the book and compared/contrasted the characters and endings in the different books. We then created a class book. It will be visiting your house soon!

Welcome to Kindergarten!

I am looking forward to beginning the school year. I can't wait to learn more about each of the students that I am blessed to spend the next few months with. We have Meet the Teacher on August 11th in the classroom. Our first day of class is August 14th. Please walk your children in on the first day of school. We will not have a car line the first day ONLY.
